Canada 150 Student Poetry Contest

Open to Guelph students up to and including grade 12.


There are two categories: Elementary and Secondary.


The theme is Canada 150.


Submissions may be sent via email to with the subject line as Canada 150 Poetry Contest or by mail to Lloyd Longfield, Member of Parliament, 40 Cork St. E., Guelph, ON N1H 2W8 (no postage necessary).


Include in the body of the email or on a separate sheet attached to your poetry submission, your name and that of your parent or guardian, full mailing address and phone number. Entries will be blind judged so do not include this information on your poetry submission. For applications submitted by email your poetry must be attached in word or PDF document.


Maximum 150 words. Submissions must be received by 4:00 pm on May 26th, 2017.


Prizes will be awarded to the top poem in each category.


One of the winning speeches will be read in the House of Commons & both will be published in local media.
