Disinformation is False Information

Fact or Fake

Disinformation spreads online, causing harm to Canada and Canadians.

I am sure that most of us are familiar with the term "fake news" as it has been brought up a lot recently due to a great deal of disinformation being spread. It is important to protect ourselves and ensure we are properly learning how to identify and fact-check information we are subjected to. To better protect ourselves, we can learn the common signs to look out for in the content we consume online through websites, social media, etc. Many resources have been made available to us to fact-check and assist in identifying false information.

We all have a responsibility to stop the spread of “fake news”. Consider fact-checking information before you share it, ask questions, correct false information, and debunk information that you can clearly show is false. Whenever possible, report disinformation so that we can stop it from being spread.
